Satyen

Genre: House

From the frat parties of Cappa Phi in Boston in 1995 to dance floors in major clubs around the world, Satyen’s DJ carreer spanning over a decade has taken a full circle.

From the first set of gigs at Ralph’s in Boston, Satyen got noticed and picked up by the Germination label to play their back room parties at the mega club Palladium. Soon he found himself with multiple residencies in the Boston area at the uber cool Commercial Street Café and an opening spot at the then infamous Club Roxy for DJ Felix.
Summer of 98 took him on a tour across the USA playing major clubs in Miami, Peurto Rico, Denver, New Orleans, San Fransisco and New York alongwith big names such as Deep Dish, David Hollands, Groove Creator and Victor Calderone.

The move to Dubai in 1999 was the beginning of a new chapter. Satyen was closely involved and, in more ways than one, responsible for the burgeoning of the music scene in Dubai. In 2002 he started Ohm Records - the first and only vinyl record store and distribution company in the Middle East and South Asia – a pioneering outfit that has introduced countless people to the most innovative sounds in electronic music.

Ohm Records owns exlcusive rights to a broad range of independent music labels from all over the world and is responsible for promoting their sounds and artists in the Middle East.
Ohm Records also has several residencies in clubs in Dubai and Middle East where Satyen has hosted and played alongside artists such as Dave Seaman, Tiefschwarz, Peace Division, John Graham, Jimmy Van M, Masters at Work, Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, Krafty Kuts, Ian Pooley, DJulz, Nic fancuilli, Desyn Maseilo, Damian Lazarus and more…..

Satyen is comfortable playing both back room (with a mix of deep/funky/afro/latin groove) as well as the main room (house/techno).

In 2005 Satyen started his own record label called Stranded Music along with Ali Ajami (from Bedrock/Chug Music). Stranded is a collaboration between producers from Dubai and top class international producers with releases/remixes from artists such as Lexicon Avenue, Johnny Fiasco, Morgan Page, Montero and Low End Specialists.

In 2007, Satyen was responsible for the birth of ElectricMotel.com – the first of its kind comprehensive music portal in the region featuring a web-magazine, online radio station, events portal and the first digital download site in the middle east.

DJ, Artist, Music Entrepreuner & Promoter….. Satyen could easily be the busiest man in Dance Industry as currently seen in the Middle east.
