Talking all that jazz

Talking all that jazz

31 Jan 2012

After 10 years, it's become apparent that the Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival isn't, in the strictest definition, a jazz festival. But what it is, is an excellent musical coming together, with plenty of jazz overtones, but dominated by pop and singer songwriters. And for their 10th anniversary, the festival have pulled together their favourite acts from the last decade. And in James Blunt, Jason Mraz with Toca Rivera, James Morrison and Jools Holland, they have a suitably large line up which should get the crowds flocking in their thousands.

And not only is the festival celebrating 10 years of existence, it's also celebrating a venue change - gone is the Media City amphitheatre, and in its place is the Festival Park – Dubai Festival City surroundings (and no, it's not on the car park - the Jazz Festival organisers have colonised a space near to Al Badia Golf Course which is fully grassed).

Jazz (well, pop), the great outdoors and a big hitting line up - sounds just the ticket to us. The Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival 2012 runs from February 16-24, http://www.dubaijazzfest.com/
