A quick word with... DJ Bliss and Shef Codes

They're one of the most in-demand DJ duos in town, playing a wide spread of urban music, including dubstep and moonbhaton. We caught up with Bliss and Shef Codes to find out what makes them tick...

Who's the best selector and who's technically the best DJ?

Shef: In terms of music selection, we often spend a couple of hours a week sharing music and hitting each other up with the new tracks.

Bliss: On a technical level we just play in a very different way, depending on energy levels, moods and crowd.

If it came down to a head-to-head battle, which of you would win and why?

Bliss: That’s not a bad idea, we should do a head-to-head battle!

Shef: Game on – We’ll make it happen at 411 Saturday's new venue, PEOPLE by Crystal!

Are there any areas where your music tastes differ?

Shef: I’m more of an underground music person, I spend a lot of hours researching my tracks.

Bliss: I’ve gone into the Dubstep world in the past year and Moombahton is becoming a new favourite.

There are some hip hop beefs in town - how do you stay cool with each other?

Bliss: How do me and Codes stay cool? We’ve been working together for just over three years now and he’s the Codes, how can you not stay cool with him.

Shef: It's all for the love of music – working side by side for three years turns you into family.

You've helped transform Saturday nights, is Sunday a 'turn the phone off and catch up on sleep' day?

Bliss: I always keep on working, it\'s never a day off but definitely never ever schedule meetings on Sunday except for a team meeting with The Real Flava!

Shef: For me, it's sleep, sleep and more sleep and always end up late to the team meeting… But I make it!

You're both prodigious DJs - do you ever say no to gigs, and for what reasons?

Shef: We never say no to gigs unless we’ve committed to another event…

Bliss: Or unless we’ve DJ’d 6 days that week then for sure we say no… Sleep and some chill out time is necessary to keep going and not burn out.

Dubai's club scene has...

Shef: Grown within the past years but has so much more room to grow.

Bliss: Made a lot of international noise recently, it's becoming a destination that more and more artists recognize as the next party capital. In the past month alone Flo Rida and Kanye came out here to shoot videos! Mr Codes, you wanna say it or should I?

Shef: BOOM
