dXb Festival returns29 Jul 2012
Dubai isn't short of a music festival or two, but we're pleased to say that the dXb Festival is returning for a second year running. Billing itself as the first ever multi stage electronic festival in Dubai, LMFAO headlined with their party-starting American rock and electro fusion last year, and this year follows a similar US-centric feel. Organisers Live Nation have opted for 3 headline acts this time around, including Far East Movement, Kaskade and Afrojack, meaning US style EDM is the order of the day. Platinum-selling Far East Movement will be the big live draw, and rose to fame with their low-slung dirty bass meets hip hop anthem 'Like A G6' which dominated charts around the world. The 4 piece group actually formed in 2003 in LA and have featured on the Fast and Furious computer game soundtracks and are the first Asian American group to have a Billboard Number 1. Fellow American Kaskade is also on the bill. A huge hit Stateside, he's known for his distinctive brand of bassline friendly house and electro, and was recently called the 'new face of electronic dance music' by New York Magazine. And completing the headliners is Dutch house and electro DJ Afrojack, who's been a big hit in Dubai every time he's played. He impressed at his first outing at Creamfields in Abu Dhabi, and comes with a growing reputation having hit the big time thanks to winning a Grammy and headlining the huge Ultra Music Festival in Miami. The dXb Festival takes place on October 5 at its new home at Festival Park, Al Badia Festival City, with tickets on sale from August 15. |
