Ahmad Shahzad is one of the hottest young prospects in Pakistani cricket. Having made his international debut at 17 years old he has represented his country on numerous occasions and is quickly winning the praise of critics and sports fans around the world.
Following a strong youth career, Shahzad made both his ODI and Twenty20 debuts in 2009 against Australia, ultimately leading to his selection in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 squad in which Pakistan went on to win the title.
Shahzad continued to represent his country, travelling the world playing as a slow-batter and often opener in various fixtures. He made headlines in 2013 during his Test debut against South Africa. He was also recognized as the Player of the Series against Zimbabwe in the same year, having scored 168 runs. To date, Shahzad has scored three Test centuries, one Twenty20 century and 6 in ODI series.
In domestic competitions, Shahzad began his career in 2007 with Habib Bank Limited, making his debut aged 15. In 2012 he was bought by the Barisal Burners for $50,000. He played in the 2012 Bangladesh Premier League and became the top run-scorer with 486 runs. Shahzad has also played in the Caribbean, having represented Jamaica Tallawahs and Barbados Tridents.
