Filipino singer, actor and presenter Ogie Alcasid is one of the top comedians in the Philippines. With a career that has spanned over 4 decades, he has been the star of numerous television shows, movies and songs which has seen him rise to the top of Filipino entertainment.
Alcasid released his debut album in 1988 when he was 21 years old. He quickly followed this up with his movie debut in 1990’s Feel Na Feel before adding two more movies to his filmography shortly after.
It wasn’t until 1992 that Alcasid made his move over to television, where he saw his popularity rise across the country. He starred as one of the hosts on ABS-CBN’s Small Brothers as well as adding appearances on Mana Mana and Tropang Trumpo to his resume.
Alcasid enjoyed much success as the host of game shows Game Na Game Na, which he became the host of in 1995, and Family Feud, taking the reins in 2001. He also added basketball show Fastbreak and drama Hanggang Kailan to his hosting and acting collection. Most recently, Alcasid is known as a judge on Pinoy Idol and the host of Hole In The Wall. He also joined the cast of It’s Showtime, citing a return to ABS-CBN after 12 years away.
Alcasid has also amassed an impressive list of songs, reaching Gold status with Nandito Ako in 1989, winning Magic 89.9’s ‘Song of the Year’ in the process. Since then he has gone on to release 18 albums, many of which reached Gold and Platinum unit sale certifications.
Alcasid has also been formally recognized for his work on numerous occasions winning a range of awards for his acting and hosting. Amongst countless awards, Alcasid has been named the Entertainer of the Year four times at the Aliw Awards, the Empress Award for Best Comedy Actor in 2012 and the MTV Pilipinas Favorite Male Artist in 2003.
