If you use public transport in Dubai, you probably rely on a nol card<\/strong>. By 2026, the system will be completely upgraded, introducing digital payments, smartphone integration, and new fare options<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has already completed 40% of the project<\/a>, which is being rolled out in three phases with a total investment of AED 550 million.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Changing <\/strong>in Dubai\u2019s nol card<\/strong>?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The biggest shift is moving from the current card-based ticketing system to an account-based model. This means nol cardholders will have digital accounts linked to their cards<\/strong>, making payments and top-ups more flexible.<\/p>\n

The Three Upgrade Phases<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Phase 1:<\/strong> The system will be updated to create digital accounts for users, which can be linked to existing nol cards.<\/p>\n

Phase 2:<\/strong> A new generation of nol cards<\/strong> will be introduced, designed to work with international banking card technologies.<\/p>\n

Phase 3:<\/strong> Once fully upgraded, users will be able to pay transport fares through alternative methods<\/strong>, such as:<\/p>\n

    More <\/strong>New<\/strong> Features for nol Card Users<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    The upgraded nol card system will come with several new benefits<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

    • Smartphone integration<\/strong>, allowing you to link nol card to mobile wallets.<\/li>\n
    • Family accounts<\/strong> for managing multiple nol cards under one profile.<\/li>\n
    • Auto top-ups<\/strong> to set up automatic balance refills through your bank.<\/li>\n
    • Detailed transaction history<\/strong> for tracking fares and payments in real time.<\/li>\n
    • Suspension & balance recovery<\/strong>, allowing users to block lost cards and retrieve remaining credit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Once the system is live, the nol card won\u2019t be limited to Metro, buses, and trams \u2014 it will also work for retail purchases and online transactions, much like a bank card.
