Dubai\u2019s marine transport system just got a significant upgrade with the opening of Old Dubai Souq and Al Sabkha stations<\/strong>, both situated along Dubai Creek. These newly improved stations<\/strong> mark the final phase of a major project by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), aimed at enhancing the city\u2019s marine transport network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The improvements follow a model similar to the successful upgrades at Bur Dubai and Old Deira Souq stations. The focus has been on preserving the cultural charm of the area while enhancing convenience for users<\/strong>. Marine transport is very popular in the city: in the first half of 2025 alone, the number of passengers reached 9.7 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New shaded waiting areas<\/strong>, expanded retail outlets<\/strong>, and better amenities<\/strong> have been added to serve passengers and abra riders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stations have also been designed to be more accessible, with the addition of larger waiting areas and spaces<\/strong> that meet Dubai\u2019s Code for People of Determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability is another key focus, with eco-friendly materials used in the construction of the new marine berths and improved lighting for better visibility and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To further enhance comfort, RTA has also introduced air-conditioned rest areas for operators of the traditional wooden abras<\/strong>, making sure the working environment is just as comfortable as it is for the passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these two new stations, five other marine stations in Dubai have also been upgraded<\/a> in May<\/strong>.
