Biography & Career Nana Kwame Abrokwa, also known as Nana or Darkman, is a Ghanaian-born German rapper and DJ. He gained popularity with his 1996 self-titled debut album, which achieved Platinum certification in Poland and Gold certification in Germany and Switzerland. The album featured the hit single "Lonely," which topped the charts in Germany and Switzerland and achieved Platinum status in Germany. Nana arrived in Hamburg, Germany, at the age of 10 with his mother and brothers. His musical career began with DJing in hip-hop clubs and co-producing songs under the alias MC Africa True. In 1994, he joined the Eurodance project Darkness but later pursued a solo career under the name Darkman. He signed with the Black Music label Booya Music in 1996 and released his debut album, Nana, in 1997, which showcased an American style of rapping. He released subsequent albums like Father in 1998 and All Doors in Flight No. 7 in 2004. After a hiatus, Nana made a comeback in 2022, touring across Europe with collaborations and releases alongside artists like Graciano Major and Ramzy Shaar. Nana continues to leave his mark on the music scene with his unique style and performances.
