The band Goldfish are one of the most popular musical exports of South Africa. Creating a unique fusion of dance music with jazz and African sounds, the band has gained widespread popularity across the world, winning the Best Pop act at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2014.
Formed in Cape Town, the band released their debut album ‘Caught in the Loop’ in 2006, they went on to open for many of dance music’s top artists, including Fat Boy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Faithless and Pete Tong. They also received their first nomination at the MTV Africa Music Awards in the Best Alternative category.
Their second album, Perceptions of Pacha, released in 2008 and went on to earn eight nominations at the South African Music Awards, winning the Best Engineer and Best Dance Album gongs. Goldfish then recreated this success with the album Get Busy Living, which also won a South African Music Award for Best Global Dance Album.
The band have released two further albums, Goldfish in 2012 and Three Second Memory in 2013. The title track of the former ‘Washing Over Me’ went on to top the 5FM Top 40 chart.
Goldfish have also performed across the world at many of the top festivals including Ultra Music Festival in Miami, SXSW in London and the world-famous Glastonbury festival.
