Karsu Dönmez was born on April 19, 1990, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She received a scholarship from the U.S. Embassy in the Netherlands and went to America, where she studied singing at Rhode Island University. Karsu began her active music career at the age of 16 by playing the piano for customers at Kilim Restaurant in Amsterdam, owned by her father. Drawing attention from the customers, Karsu was well-received, and the number of people coming to listen to her increased. In response, her family decided to rent a hall for Karsu, intending to host concerts in a larger venue for those who wanted to listen to her. However, things did not go as planned for the Dönmez family. Hosting a large concert to satisfy the demand to see Karsu and then closing the matter proved to be unfeasible. Following this concert, Karsu began receiving offers from some of the world's most important stages and events. In a short time, she performed at prestigious venues ranging from Concertgebouw to the North Sea Jazz Festival and even the Carnegie Hall in New York. Some listeners even expressed that when they closed their eyes and listened to her voice, they felt as though they were listening to a giant jazz star in New Orleans.
