American bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman is widely regarded as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time. Coleman holds the record for most wins as an IFBB professional and held the prestigious Mr. Olympia title for eight consecutive years.
Having played American Football at college, Coleman became a police officer in Texas and took up bodybuilding at his local gym. He was offered a free membership in return for allowing the gym owner to train him for the Mr. Texas bodybuilding competition. Coleman won the competition in both the heavyweight and overall categories and began his career as a professional in 1990, making his debut in the IFBB World Amateur Championships in 1992.
Coleman continued to improve his body and won the Canada Pro Cup in 1995 and the Russian Grand Prix two years later. His career built him into a major force in world bodybuilding leading him to endorse products all over the world.
He was the IFBB Mr. Olympia champion from 1998-2005 as well as dominating in Grand Prix’s around the world including in Finland, England, New Zealand and Holland. In 2001, he added the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic to his impressive list of wins.
Off stage, Coleman was awarded the 2001 Admiral in the Texas Navy Certificate Award by Governor Rick Perry for his work in bodybuilding and promotion of physical fitness, where he has been invited to gym openings across the USA and in for participating in numerous training videos to assist fellow weightlifters in form and avoiding overexertion.
