Born on January 21, 1941, José Plácido Domingo Embil is regarded as one of the world's most famous opera vocalists because of his powerful tenor voice and incredibly diversified career that encompasses every genre of music. Born in Madrid, Spain, he has become a legend in the opera and classical music industries since he was a little child. Up until his New York City Opera debut in 1966, Domingo's was not an international career, but his 1968 appearance with the Metropolitan Opera launched him as one of the world's leading tenors. Some of his most famous performances include Otello, La Traviata, and Tosca.
