Al Di Meola, who has left his mark on the music world with his fascination for complex rhythmic syncopations, provocative lyrical melodies and sophisticated harmonies throughout his career spanning more than forty years, is preparing to take the stage in Istanbul with a brand new concept as one of the best guitarists of today. Straying away from the flamenco - fusion and acoustic trio format we know him best, the artist will take the stage with a different repertoire on November 7th at Volkswagen Arena with the organization of Epifoni. The artist will play the songs from his beloved Land of the Midnight Sun, Casino and Elegant Gypsy albums, which have been among the best-selling records in Turkey for 40 years, with his Les Paul guitar after years. Throughout his career, Al Di Meola has sold four gold albums, two platinum albums and more than six million records worldwide. He received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Berklee College of Music, received the Honorary Miles Davis Award from the Montreal Jazz Festival, was honored with the BBC Lifetime Achievement Award by Sir George Martin in 2008, won the Lyra Award of the Hungarian Foundation for Performing Arts, and received numerous Grammy nominations and awards. A true guitar legend and prolific composer, he has released more than 30 albums in his solo career. He has also been involved in many projects such as the fusion supergroup Return to Forever with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White, the famous acoustic Guitar Trio with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia, and Rite of Strings with bassist Clarke and violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. His mesmerizing technique on both acoustic and electric guitar has earned Al Di Meola an extraordinary reputation among his fans. However, his emotional connection with the guitar and his natural lyrical style have earned him a worldwide audience, not limited to guitar enthusiasts.
