Chilean-American DJ and producer Nicolas Jaar who has become known for his high-quality productions, delivering an experimental touch to the electronic dance music industry. Having released two studio albums, numerous EPs and several remixes, Jaar has become respected by fellow DJs, fans and critics around the world.
Having found a passion for music at a young age, Jaar began producing, releasing his debut single, ‘The Student’, on Wolf & Lamb Recordings in 2007. Jaar toured the underground dance music scene, performing a range of hip-hop and house sets.
Jaar’s debut album, ‘Space Is Only Noise’, came out in 2011, and was well received, earning four stars from the Guardian and being named Pitchfork’s Best New Music. Later in the year, music publications Crack Mag, Resident Advisor and Mixmag ranked the album as the Number 1 Album of the Year.
Jaar then joined guitarist Dave Harrington and keyboardist Will Epstien in touring a live act, earning himself Resident Advisor’s Number 1 Live Act vote. Continuing his live performances, Jaar performed a notorious 5-hour set at MOMA PS1 in New York before earning him the ‘Essential Mix of the Year of 2012’ title for his set on BBC Radio 1.
Jaar’s second album, ‘Sirens’, came out in 2016 and was again well received. The album became ranked as one of the top albums of the year by Pitchfork, Rough Trade, The Skinny and Consequence of Sound.
