Born in Chennai-India, Shweta Mohan is today known as one of the most gifted playback singers of the current generation. Mohan genetically carries the talent of singing from her mother, leading playback singer Sujatha Mohan whose own career started back in the late 70’s. Having been raised in a house full of music, it was little wonder that Shweta took up singing by the age of 9, training in Carnatic style music, as well as being self-taught with other genres too. In addition to this, Mohan’s influences comes from everyone around her - the varying tastes of her mother, father, husband and friends have all contributed to the versatility she carries.
Mohan’s debut track was at a very young age where she was part of a chorus, and this was with the living legend, Academy Award winning music composer A.R. Rahman. Her debut solo track though was released 10 years later with noted music director Karthik Raja.
While, Mohan has already achieved a great amount of recognition, amongst peers, fans and awards, she still feels she has miles to go until she is finished.
