His chart topper, ‘Candle in the Wind’, dedicated to the memory of close friend, Princes Diana, holds the world record for the highest selling single of all time. Sir Elton has performed over 4,000 times across the world, selling tens of millions of tickets since his first tour in the 70s, charting a career that has spanned over 5 decades and 80 countries.
Knighthood aside, the flamboyant artist’s achievements are extensive, landing him in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; some of his several accolades include the Best British Male Artist BRIT Award, Rockefeller Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award and Billboard Magazine ‘Legend of Live’ Award.
