Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp have been making waves in the dance music scene ever since their formation in 1998. Long-time friends Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland found their love for music at a young age and they began playing with instruments at the age of 13.
The duo released their first album Melody A.M. in 2001 on Wall of Sound recordings and the album had a number of tracks featured in advertisements and in the Apple setup assistant. As a result, millions of people were exposed to the duo’s productions and the album was included in The Guardian’s 2007 publication 1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die. The album went on to sell over 750,000 copies worldwide and established Röyksopp as one of the top artists to watch.
The band released a further four albums, The Understanding in 2005, Junior in 2009, Senior in 2010 and 2014 saw the release of The Inevitable End, all of which were hits in their native Norway, and sold thousands of copies across the globe.
Röyksopp have also won numerous awards as a result of their production successes. They won the Best Music Video award in 2002’s MTV Europe Awards and also received two Grammy nominations in 2009 and 2015.
The duo is also renowned for their live performances, where the they often wear eccentric outfits, feature vocalists and showcase their top productions for crowds across the globe.
