Canadian YouTuber, vlogger, comedian and actress Lilly Singh, also known as IISuperwomanII, is one of the world’s most popular YouTube stars with over 11 million subscribers and 1.7 billion video views. Since starting her career in 2010 she has won numerous awards and has gained a large fan base around the world.
Born in Toronto to Indian parents she made videos to help her deal with depression and the pressures of growing up. Her IISuperwomanII channel was launched in 2010 and contains satirical approaches to everyday life, including references to her Punjabi heritage. Her most popular video is How Girls Get Ready and she has also received praise for her series in which she portrays her fictional parents.
Along with her YouTube videos, Singh also documents her life through vlogs, racking up an impressive 210 million views, and records meeting superstar celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Selena Gomez and Dwayne Johnson, with whom she collaborated to announce that Johnson would be starting a YouTube channel.
Singh has also found herself branching out into other forms of media. She featured alongside Jassi Sidhu in the Punjabi song Hipshaker in 2013 as well as rapping in Mauj Ki Malharein in 2014. The social media sensation has acted in movies and TV shows, including a voice role in Ice Age: Collision Course and a cameo role in Bad Moms.
Lilly Singh has been repeatedly recognised for her work, winning numerous awards. She has won three Streamy Awards, two Teen Choice Awards, an MTV Fandom Award and the 2017 People’s Choice Award for Favorite YouTubeStar.
