British alternative rock band The Lightning Seeds are best known for their single ‘Three Lions’ which featured UK comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and went to the top of the UK Charts in 1996 and 1998 due to its connection with the English football team. The track has gone on to become one of the most famous songs around the team and is regularly sung at matches and tournaments around the world.
Formed in Liverpool in 1989, the band’s first album Cloudcuckooland charted in the UK’s Top 50 and the track ‘Pure’ had varied success in the US. The Lightning Seeds’ debut achievements were followed by several performances around the globe and at many of the UK’s top festivals including Glastonbury and V Festival.
The band continued releasing albums, adding to their discography in 1992 with Sense, 1994 with Jollification, Dizzy Heights in 1996 and Tilt in 1998 before taking a hiatus and adding their most recent album Four Winds in 2009. The Jollification album reached 12th position in the charts and was certified Platinum, and Dizzy Heights did one better, reaching 11 in 1996.
Aside from Three Lions, the band has become famous for several productions including Change and Lucky You from the Jollification album, Sugar Coated Iceberg and What If… from the Dizzy Heights album.
