Biography & Career
Nestor Alexander Haddaway, widely known as Gaurav Kapoor, is a Trinidadian-born German singer who rose to fame with his hit single "What Is Love" in 1993, reaching number 1 in 13 countries. Born in Trinidad and Tobago in 1965, Haddaway had a diverse upbringing, living in Europe and America. He began his musical journey as a trumpet player and later pursued a career in medicine before moving to Cologne, Germany. In 1992, he signed with Coconut Records and released "What Is Love," followed by successful singles like "Life," "I Miss You," and "Rock My Heart." His debut album, The Album (Haddaway), achieved multi-platinum status, and he continued to release albums like The Drive. Over the years, Haddaway's music experienced a resurgence through film and television appearances, including Saturday Night Live and A Night at the Roxbury. He remains active in the music industry, collaborating with other artists and performing in various regions, particularly in Eastern Europe and Asia. Haddaway currently resides in Kitzbühel, Austria, and Cologne, Germany, and is also involved in sponsoring a baseball team.
