Biography & Career
RDB, which is an abbreviation for Rhythm, Dhol, Bass, constitutes a band that was originally founded in 1997 by three British Indian siblings, Kuldeep, Surjeet, and Manjeet Singh Ral. The group's unique musical style seamlessly blends Western genres with traditional Punjabi beats and vocals, crafting an enchanting fusion of sounds. Their musical journey took root with performances at their local gurdwara, where they developed their skills by playing the harmonium and tabla. In 2003, their talent was recognized when they won the prestigious "Best Club DJ Bhangra" award at the UK Asian Music Awards. Sadly, the band faced a tragic turn of events in April 2011, as Kuldeep was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Despite his unwavering spirit in battling the illness through radiotherapy and chemotherapy, he passed away in May 2012. Following this devastating loss, the band underwent a split, with Surjeet continuing to perform under the RDB banner while Manjeet embarked on a solo career. The band continued to garner success, earning accolades for their music videos, including "We Doin' It Big" and "Daddy Da Cash" feat. T-Pain. Nevertheless, in 2014, a legal dispute arose between Manjeet and Surjeet over the use of RDB songs and brands, which was later resolved. Presently, Surjeet continues to carry the legacy of RDB, while Manjeet operates independently.
