Indian actress Hansika Motwani is one of the most in-demand actresses in India today. Known for her roles in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, Motwani has won numerous awards and played leading roles in some of the business’s biggest blockbusters.
Motwani started her career on television, starring in ‘Shaka Laka Boom Boom’ and ‘Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand’, earning her the Star Parivaar Award for Favorite Child. Motwani’s film debut came when she was 16, in 2001, with the lead role in ‘Desamuduru’. Her performance was critically acclaimed and saw her become the recipient of the Filmfare Awards South for Best Female Debut.
Following the success of her first major award win, Motwani starred in further films, including ‘Bindaas’, her Kannada debut, and ‘Mappillai’, her Tamil debut. She continued to star in Tamil movies, adding ‘Engeyum Kadhel’ and ‘Velayudham’ to her filmography.
Motwani starred as the lead in the 2012 blockbuster ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannadi’, which went on to gross over $8.6 million worldwide. Switching over to Telugu once more, Motwani earnt a Filmfare Awards South nomination for Best Actress for ‘Denikaina Ready’, but went on to win both the SIIMA Award and Edison Award in the same category.
2014 was another award-winning year for the actress, earning the Vijay Award for Favourite Heroine for ‘Maan Karate’ and the SIIMA Award for Best Actress for ‘Aranmanai’.
