If you’re an art lover in Abu Dhabi, there’s an event you definitely don’t want to miss. Sotheby’s is presenting an extraordinary collection of masterpieces featuring works from some of the most renowned artists in history, including Vincent van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Edvard Munch, and more.

This exclusive event, happening on October 1 and 2, will be held at Bassam Freiha Art Foundation on Saadiyat Island, showing artworks valued collectively at USD 150 million.

The exhibition will feature a selection of iconic paintings, some of which have never been displayed in the Middle East before. What’s more, three of the six featured works have been hidden away in private collections for over 50 years.

Here are the masterpieces you’ll have the chance to see at Bassam Freiha Art Foundation on Saadiyat Island this October:

  • Frida Kahlo ‘El sueño (La cama)’ (1940)
  • Vincent van Gogh ‘Romans Parisiens (Les Livres jaunes)’ (1888)
  • René Magritte ‘Le Jockey perdu’ (1942)
  • Paul Gauguin ‘La Maison de Pen du, gardeuse de vache’ (1889)
  • Camille Pissarro ‘Bords de l’Oise à Pontoise’ (1867)
  • Edvard Munch ‘Sankthansnatt Johannisnacht (Mittsommernacht) (St. John’s Night) (Midsummer Night’s Eve)’ (1901-3)

This exhibition is completely free to attend, and public viewing sessions will take place on two days: October 1 (Wed) from 2 PM to 7 PM, and October 2 (Thu) from 10 AM to 7 PM. It’s a rare opportunity to see these priceless works in person, right here in Abu Dhabi.

For those who can’t get enough of world-class art, the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s 2025-26 exhibition calendar will provide plenty more opportunities to explore incredible pieces in the UAE capital.
