Adjusted Working Hours during Ramadan 2026

If you’re working in Dubai, prepare for a slight shift in your daily schedule. In the private sector, employees get an extra two hours off every day during Ramadan, whether you’re fasting or not.

For government workers, the hours are also adjusted for the holy month

  • Monday to Thursday: 9 AM to 2:30 PM
  • Friday: 9 AM to 12 PM (remote work may be allowed for some)

More details on working hours of government employees in different emirates can be found here.

Starting January 2, 2026, Friday prayers in the UAE begin at 12:45 PM, so you’ll have enough time to reach the mosque with these working hours.

School Hours During Ramadan

During Ramadan, students will attend schools a maximum of five hours per day. This adjustment helps ensure they aren’t spending long hours in class while fasting. On Fridays, schools will close at 11:30 AM to accommodate the Friday prayer timing. Be sure to check with your school for specific timings.
