Abu Dhabi already has plenty of places to cycle outdoors, but late 2026 will bring something completely different. Velodrome Abu Dhabi is coming to Hudayriyat Island and won’t be like other cycling venues.
The venue will have space for more than 3,500 spectators, along with training facilities, fitness and wellness spaces, and community cycling programmes.
If you’re wondering what a velodrome looks like, it’s a cycling arena with a steeply banked oval track used for track cycling races. You can see an example in the image below.

One detail you’ll find at Velodrome Abu Dhabi that other places don’t have is a 600m track circling the roof of the building. Connected to the ground by a spiralling ramp, it overlooks Hudayriyat Island and the Abu Dhabi skyline.
The venue is expected to host international competitions and community cycling activities, so you may soon get the chance to try indoor track cycling in Abu Dhabi yourself.
