A new destination is on its way to Sharjah’s east coast. Rising 850 metres above sea level on Mount Deem, Above the Clouds retreat is under active development and expected to open in 2026. The project is designed to blend nature, culture, and leisure — all with sweeping views across Kalba’s coastline and valleys.

Spread over 4,700 square metres, the crescent-shaped complex will have two levels:

  • Upper Floor: Includes a restaurant, an open-air café, and a reading area.
  • Ground Floor: Will feature a multipurpose hall, theatre, prayer room, restrooms, viewing decks, green zones, and a children’s play area.

More than 4,500 trees have already been planted around the site, including olive, apple, grape, and pomegranate trees. This green landscape is designed to integrate naturally with the mountain terrain.

To ensure smooth access to the summit, two new road routes are being built. A 10-kilometre road network, complete with three lanes and two new bridges, will connect Wadi Al Helo Tunnel to the Sharjah-Kalba Road and provide safe access for buses and heavy vehicles.

Once complete, Above the Clouds will join Kalba’s expanding list of destinations focused on nature and culture. Nearby attractions already include the hanging gardens, Al Hafiya Lake, Kalba Clock Tower, and the newly revitalised corniche.

With its elevated setting and range of indoor and outdoor spaces, the retreat is expected to become one of Kalba’s most visited sites — offering something for families, nature lovers, and travellers looking for a quiet escape in Sharjah’s eastern region.
