Tired of sitting in traffic? By the end of this year, flying taxis could be a real way to get around Abu Dhabi. Archer Aviation is rolling out its 4-seat Midnight air taxis in the capital, and they’ve just revealed the first spots you might be able to board one.
The idea is simple: book a ride near your home, fly across the city, and reach the airport (or wherever you’re going) quickly and without the usual traffic mess. And we don’t have to wait long! Test flights kick off this summer when the first Midnight air taxi lands in Abu Dhabi.
The service is starting small, with only a few air taxis and selected routes. The main goal is to link up busy areas where lots of people need to move fast. Early locations likely include the Corniche, Saadiyat Island, and western parts of the city like Al Bateen and Al Khalidiya. These areas will likely host vertiports – special hubs for the air taxis to take off and land.
Other places being looked at are fast-growing neighbourhoods like Mohamed bin Zayed City, Mussafah, and Al Hudayriyat Island – all areas with more people and more things happening.
Prices haven’t been set in stone yet, but short city flights are expected to cost around AED 300–350. Trips to other emirates might cost more, from AED 800 to AED 1,500 — still within the range of a premium car service.
If all goes well with the upcoming test flights, flying taxis could become part of everyday travel in Abu Dhabi sooner than you think.
