Abu Dhabi is introducing a new way to beat the heat — its first climate-controlled pedestrian walkway. Located in Al Nahyan near the Al Mamoura building, this innovative path keeps temperatures at a comfortable 24°C, making outdoor walks possible even during the hottest months.

This isn’t just an enclosed tunnel with air conditioning. The design allows natural sunlight to filter through while keeping the cool air inside, creating a bright and comfortable space. Advanced cooling technology is built into the walkway, ensuring a refreshing experience from start to finish.

But there’s more than just a cool place to walk. The path will feature shops, cafés, and outdoor seating areas, giving people a chance to relax and enjoy the space no matter the season. Plus, thanks to soundproofing materials in the walls, the walkway will be quiet and peaceful, shielding pedestrians from city noise.

This is just the beginning. The Department of Municipalities and Transport plans to bring more climate-friendly innovations to public spaces across Abu Dhabi. Could we see fully air-conditioned streets in the future? Only time will tell.
