If you’re a Roblox fan or a parent with kids who love the platform, here’s something you need to know. The popular platform has introduced a new policy that requires all users worldwide to verify their age before they can use chat features. This is a big change, and it’s all about making the platform safer for everyone, especially younger players.

Now, players need to complete an age verification process to access chat, including text and voice communication. This involves:

  • a facial age estimation scan via Roblox app
  • a government ID (for users over 13 years)

The platform assures users that all images and videos used in the verification process are deleted right away to protect privacy.

Once verified, players will be grouped into six different age categories. They determine who you can communicate with, so younger users can only talk to others in their age range. For kids under nine, chat is turned off by default, unless a parent gives consent.

If you’re in the UAE, you might be wondering: will Roblox chat come back? The feature was turned off in September 2025, but with this new age verification system, it looks like it could return for users in the region.

And speaking of young generation, the UAE has recently introduced Child Digital Safety Law to protect kids in online spaces, so if you’re a parent, it’s good to stay informed. Plus, in August 2025, the country announced a ban on mobile phones in schools to create distraction-free environments for students.
