As Dubai gears up for its New Year celebrations, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced extended service hours for public transport, including the Dubai Metro and Tram. This move aims to ease the usual traffic congestion and provide a convenient way for everyone to get around during the festivities.
Starting December 31 at 5 AM, the Dubai Metro will operate nonstop until the end of January 1, offering more than 43 hours of continuous service. The Dubai Tram will also be available for extended hours, from 6 AM on December 31 to 1 AM on January 2.
To further support the increased demand for transportation, the RTA will deploy an additional fleet of 1,400 buses, which will be free of charge for the public. This is an effort to ensure smooth access to key areas, especially in anticipation of large crowds at popular New Year events.
Hussain Al Bana, Executive Director of Traffic at RTA, emphasized that these extended services, along with extra parking spaces and free bus rides, aim to reduce traffic congestion and make the celebrations more accessible for everyone.
If you’re planning to head out to celebrate, using public transport is highly recommended to avoid the usual New Year rush.
