If you’re driving to big events in Dubai, be prepared for higher parking fees. Starting Monday, February 17, parking rates near Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) will go up during event hours. The new rates, set by Parkin, the city’s public parking operator, will charge AED 25 per hour in the “Grand Event Zone” around the venue. This is a significant jump from the previous fees.

Parkin announced the changes on Instagram, advising people to use public transport to avoid traffic jams around DWTC during major events. The increase aims to ease congestion in the area, which often gets packed when large conferences or exhibitions take place.

The price hike takes effect on the same day as the start of Gulfood, a major food and beverage trade show at DWTC. Previously, parking fees for “Trade Center First (Code X)” ranged from AED 2 for 30 minutes to AED 16 for four hours.

Dubai has been adjusting its traffic and parking charges recently. In January, Salik toll gate fees became variable, and from March, public parking rates in high-demand areas will rise to AED 6 per hour during peak times (8 AM – 10 AM and 4 PM – 8 PM). These changes are part of efforts to manage traffic and encourage public transport use.
