Jeddah’s heritage-filled neighbourhood of Al-Balad is once again at the centre of the Kingdom’s creative spotlight as Balad Al-Fann returns for its second edition. Running every weekend until 13 June, this cultural festival brings together over 90 events, offering visitors a thoughtful blend of tradition and contemporary creativity in one of Saudi Arabia’s most historic districts.

Organised by Zawiya 97 in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Balad Al-Fann transforms the UNESCO-listed area into an interactive art space, where cultural storytelling meets hands-on learning and artistic exploration.

Each weekend features a new theme — from craft and sustainability to youth-focused programming — ending with a nostalgic celebration dubbed the “sweet-scented farewell.” It’s an opportunity to experience Al-Balad through different lenses every time.

Here’s what to expect when going to Balad Al-Fann in Jeddah:

  • Live music and street performances
  • Interactive art installations and workshops
  • Cultural talks and creative masterclasses
  • Soap-making, pottery, perfumery, and calligraphy sessions
  • Local markets featuring handmade jewellery, art, and crafts

With free entry, family-friendly programming, and activities running from 5 PM to 11 PM, the event invites everyone to explore Saudi culture in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Whether you’re looking to discover local artists or simply wander through Al-Balad’s vibrant streets, Balad Al-Fann offers a cultural experience rooted in place, memory, and imagination.
