Residents of Expo City Dubai can now experience a new kind of doorstep delivery — one that doesn’t knock or ring the bell. A fleet of autonomous food delivery robots has officially rolled out, bringing futuristic convenience to this forward-thinking district.

Launched by Yango Autonomy, the initiative transforms how short-distance food delivery works in Dubai. These fully electric robots are equipped with GPS, cameras, and AI-powered navigation tools, allowing them to move independently through the city’s pedestrian-friendly pathways.

While Dubai Silicon Oasis was the first to test robotic delivery, Expo City is now home to the most advanced version of the service, fully integrated into the area’s urban mobility ecosystem.

Here’s how it works:

  • Customers place orders using the “Expo City Eats” app
  • Once the food is ready, a robot collects it from the restaurant
  • The robot then navigates to the customer, using real-time location tracking
  • The order can be securely accessed using a QR code or SMS link when the robot arrives

This innovation is aligned with Dubai’s Autonomous Transportation Strategy, which aims to make 25% of urban trips autonomous by 2030.

The robots run solely on electricity, produce zero carbon emissions, and reduce the need for cars, scooters, or motorbikes for short deliveries. This helps ease traffic congestion, cut down noise pollution, and boost overall public safety — all while supporting the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 goal.

With existing smart infrastructure like real-time traffic monitoring and eco-friendly design, Expo City offers the perfect environment for these types of tech-driven solutions.
