The foundation stone for the first Dubai Metro Blue Line station has officially been laid. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, led the ceremony for the new Emaar Properties Metro Station.
This marks a significant milestone for the upcoming Blue Line project, which will stretch 30 kilometers and add 14 new stations to the network, expanding the Dubai Metro’s total length to 131 kilometers across 78 stations.

The Emaar Properties Metro Station is not just any stop — at 74 meters high, it will become the highest metro station in the world. Its newly unveiled design also signals a new architectural era for the Dubai Metro system.
Emaar has secured naming rights to the station for ten years, starting from the official launch, which is scheduled for September 9, 2029 — a symbolic date that mirrors the original Metro launch on 09-09-2009.

The Blue Line is set to enhance public transport access across nine key districts, with the goal of improving connectivity and mobility throughout the city.
This 2029 opening will also coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Metro — making it a notable chapter in the city’s ongoing development in urban infrastructure.
