Dubai Metro Blue Line, a major project that’s officially under construction, set to be completed by 2029. Construction began in June 2025 with the stone-laying ceremony at Emaar Properties Station, which will become a standout architectural and operational landmark.
The highlights of this huge project include the tallest metro station in the world, direct airport link, and the first Dubai Metro bridge over the Creek.

Originally proposed in 2006, the Blue Line will have two branches and include 14 stations in total. Once operational, it will connect nine major communities with the wider Dubai Metro network and create easier access to key hubs like Dubai International Airport, Academic City, and Dubai Creek Harbour.
Here’s a look at the confirmed communities and station locations along the route:
Academic City
A major student hub with over 50,000 students projected by 2029. The new station improves transport to and from this educational zone.

Al Jaddaf
This interchange will connect the Blue Line to the existing Green Line, offering smoother transfers across the network.
Al Rashidiya (Centrepoint Station)
The Blue Line will link with the Red Line here, at what is currently the final stop for trains from Downtown Dubai.
Al Warqa
A growing residential district set to benefit from a new metro connection, especially given current limited public transport options.

Mirdif
Another key suburban area being added to the metro map, improving commute options for residents and easing road congestion.
Dubai Festival City
The new station provides direct rail access to the retail and residential community, currently served mostly by road and water taxis.
Dubai Creek Harbour (Emaar Properties Station)
This flagship stop will be the tallest metro station in the world, designed for 160,000 passengers daily. It will also feature a 1.3 km-long metro bridge over Dubai Creek — the first of its kind.

Dubai International Airport
The Blue Line will connect several communities to DXB, with journeys expected to take just 20 minutes.
Dubai Silicon Oasis
As part of Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, this rapidly developing zone will finally be connected to the metro network.
International City
This area will feature two Blue Line stations, including one underground interchange, boosting mobility for a densely populated district.

Ras Al Khor
Positioned between Dubai Creek Harbour and International City, the Ras Al Khor station brings much-needed access to an industrial and mixed-use zone.
With 14 stations, two interchanges, and a new bridge in the works, the Dubai Metro Blue Line will significantly reshape the way residents and visitors move around the city. The project supports long-term goals in the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and reflects the city’s continued investment in sustainable urban development and public transport infrastructure.
