If you’re driving through Ras Al Khaimah, here’s an important update: starting January 2026, the speed limit on Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Street (E18) will drop to 80 km/h. This stretch runs from the Applied Technology Schools to Al Kharran Roundabout and is one of the main roads in the emirate.

The E18 sees heavy traffic, connecting Ras Al Khaimah to other emirates and passing through residential and commercial areas. Radar enforcement will be set to trigger at 101 km/h, so make sure to stay within the limit to avoid penalties. The speed cameras along the route will be adjusted to match the new limit.

Road safety is a priority, and this speed limit reduction is a step in the right direction. But with the the air travel coming soon to the country, there may be no need for any cars or traffic limits at all. With air taxis, you could soon be flying between Dubai and RAK in just 15 minutes, and no speed limits involved!

Stay tuned for more news and updates on this new way to travel!
