If you drive around Dubai regularly, you probably know how quickly traffic can build up around busy junctions. The RTA has been steadily working on upgrades to improve traffic flow. The latest addition is the opening of 2 new bridges on Oud Maitha Street, which could reduce travel time in the area from about 20 minutes to just five.

  • One of the new bridges serves traffic moving from Al Asayel Street toward Al Wasl Club Street. The two-lane bridge can accommodate around 2,400 vehicles per hour.
  • The second bridge is located at the intersection of Al Wasl Club Street and Al Khail Road. It connects Al Asayel Street to Al Khail Road toward Business Bay Crossing. The two-lane construction can handle around 3,000 vehicles per hour.

More road expansions and bridge structures are expected to open later this year, with the next phase scheduled for the third quarter. Overall, the project boosts Oud Maitha Street’s capacity to roughly 15,600 vehicles per hour.

Here’s another recent traffic update worth your attention, especially if you often drive through the DWTC area. A new bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street recently opened to help reduce traffic around the area.
