Nature lovers in Abu Dhabi have reason to celebrate. The capital has just been recognised as one of the top cities in the world for green space and access to nature, according to Time Out’s latest global city survey. Ranked 9th worldwide, Abu Dhabi shares this prestigious spot with Cape Town, Chicago, and Sydney.
An impressive 83% of residents rated the city’s natural offerings as either “good” or “amazing.” And with good reason. Abu Dhabi blends urban life with an array of natural landscapes — from tranquil mangrove forests and sandy boardwalks to sprawling public parks and wildlife-rich reserves.

Whether it’s a morning flamingo-spotting session at the Eastern Mangroves, an afternoon stroll through Jubail Island’s Nature Reserve, or an evening jog along the Corniche waterfront, the city proves that nature and city life can go hand in hand.
This recognition is part of a wider global list of the greenest cities, with Medellín (Colombia) topping the charts at 92%. Other cities making the top of the rating include U.S. Boston (2nd place with 88%), U.K. capital London and Australian Sydney (both share 3rd place with 87%) — making Abu Dhabi’s inclusion even more noteworthy.
As the city continues to develop, this focus on natural integration signals a strong commitment to sustainability and resident well-being.
