Dubai Police have confirmed the return of a longstanding UAE tradition to mark the beginning of Eid Al Adha. On the first morning of the holiday, ceremonial cannon fire will ring out across six locations in the city. Preparations for this heritage ritual are complete, with safety measures and logistics fully coordinated to ensure the event runs smoothly for public spectators.
This year, the Eid cannons will be fired from the following sites:
- Za’abeel Grand Mosque, Za’abeel
- Eid Musallah, Umm Suqeim
- Eid Musallah, Nad Al Hamar
- Eid Musallah, Al Barsha
- Eid Musallah, Al Baraha
- Eid Musallah, Hatta

The cannon-firing tradition, deeply rooted in UAE culture, is used to announce the start of major Islamic celebrations such as Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi, Commander of the Dubai Police Cannons, described the Eid cannon as a meaningful practice tied closely to community heritage.
In addition to the ceremonial events, Dubai’s popular parks and public leisure facilities will operate with extended hours over the Eid Al Adha weekend. Four public beaches have also been designated as family-only spaces to offer a more comfortable experience for visitors.
