Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a new infrastructure upgrade in the city: a 91-metre pedestrian and bicycle bridge across Sheikh Rashid Street, one of the busiest routes in the emirate.
Key features of new bridge across Sheikh Rashid Street:
- The bridge connects residential communities with key commercial zones and nearby public bus stations, improving connectivity for commuters and pedestrians.
- Equipped with elevators on both sides, the bridge is designed to be accessible for all users, including people of determination, cyclists, and parents with strollers.
- Inspired by Dubai’s maritime history, the bridge incorporates design elements that reflect traditional diving and commercial vessels, blending modern infrastructure with cultural heritage.

Positioned between Al Mankhool and Al Jafilya, the bridge is expected to serve over 22,000 people daily. This addition is part of the RTA’s broader commitment to making Dubai a safer and more pedestrian-friendly city.
This pedestrian project comes just as the RTA announced the completion of major roadworks on the Bur Dubai side of the city. As part of the Shindagha Corridor Project, the fifth and final bridge was completed at the Sheikh Rashid–Al Mina Street Interchange.
This series of transport upgrades is a clear sign of Dubai’s push to enhance urban mobility while honouring local heritage — making it easier, safer, and more efficient for residents and visitors to get around.
