The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled plans for a transformation of Al Fay Street, a project that aims to revolutionize traffic flow in Dubai. With an investment of AED 1.5 billion, this extensive development will introduce five new major intersections, improve connectivity, and ease congestion for hundreds of thousands of residents.

Stretching from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street to Emirates Road, the upgraded Al Fay Street will have an increased capacity of 64,400 vehicles per hour, benefitting around 600,000 residents in the vicinity.

Areas like Dubai Sports City, Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, and Remraam are just a few of the communities set to experience smoother commutes.

The project will be executed in two phases, each targeting key problem areas along the route.

Phase One will focus on:

  • Constructing a two-lane bridge on Al Khail Road at the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road intersection. This 1,255-meter bridge will accommodate up to 3,200 vehicles per hour.
  • Adding a new bridge on Al Fay Street, complementing other improvements to streamline traffic flow.

Phase Two will tackle further enhancements, including:

  • A four-lane bridge at the roundabout connecting Dubai Sports City and Dubai Production City, spanning 960 meters. The roundabout will also be converted into a signal-controlled intersection for better traffic management.
  • A five-lane bridge on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, accompanied by a 780-meter service road to ease congestion near Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
  • At the intersection of Al Fay Street and Emirates Road, a two-lane bridge will be constructed to improve access between key districts.

The Al Fay Street project is a comprehensive solution to address traffic bottlenecks and improve mobility in one of Dubai’s most dynamic areas. Residents and commuters will benefit from reduced travel times and smoother access to vital residential and commercial hubs.

According to HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the RTA, the project reflects the city’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure to support growing urban demands.
