Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has made it easier for pilgrims from the Gulf region to perform Umrah by expanding access and streamlining the process. Citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can now perform Umrah at any time of the year, entering the Kingdom through land, air, or sea ports.
All pilgrims are required to obtain an Umrah permit through the official Nusuk application. The same applies to those who wish to pray in Rawdah Al Sharifah, the revered chamber in the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. The move is part of broader efforts to enhance the pilgrimage experience and simplify procedures for visitors.

In addition to GCC citizens, residents of GCC countries are now also eligible to perform Umrah using multiple types of visas:
- Umrah visas via nusuk.sa
- Transit visas issued in partnership with Saudi Airlines and Flynas (saudia.com, flynas.com)
- Tourist visas available through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ksavisa.sa)
This makes it significantly easier for residents across the Gulf region to plan and complete their pilgrimage on a schedule that works for them.

Saudi authorities have also outlined key deadlines for international Umrah pilgrims:
- First of Shawwal: Last day for Umrah visa issuance
- 15 Shawwal: Last day for pilgrims to enter the Kingdom
- 1 Dhul Qi’dah: Final deadline for pilgrims to leave
These measures are designed to organise and manage the Umrah season efficiently while supporting a seamless experience for all pilgrims.
Earlier this June, Saudi Arabia has released Hajj calendar through 2050, confirming that the pilgrimage will not coincide with the summer season for the next 25 years. This will provide more favourable conditions for pilgrims during peak travel months.
