In the heart of the Saadiyat Cultural District, a groundbreaking masterpiece is taking shape, set to redefine the landscape of global modern and contemporary art.
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, a collaborative venture between the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, will be opening its doors in 2025.
This museum story started way back in 2006, and after lots of planning and building, it’s almost here. Construction began in 2011 and paused for a bit, but now we know for sure it’s coming in 2025 – about 20 years after they first had the idea and 14 years after they started building it.
At an impressive 42,000 square meters, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will soar as the largest among the Guggenheim family, surpassing even the iconic Guggenheim Bilbao, another masterpiece crafted by the renowned architect Frank Gehry.
Gehry’s design is nothing short of visionary, a cluster of galleries boasting varying heights, shapes, and characters that promise a sensory journey through the wonders of art.
