Dubai’s heavy traffic, especially in some of its busiest districts, is about to get a major upgrade. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a AED 6 billion project in partnership with Dubai Holding to improve roads, intersections, and access points in five key districts: Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Dubai Production City, and International City.

Traffic Upgrades at Business Bay

Business Bay, one of Dubai’s busiest commercial and residential areas, will see several key improvements. Upgrades at major intersections leading to Sheikh Zayed Road will help ease congestion, and a new pedestrian bridge at First Al Khail Road will ensure safer crossings. Additionally, internal roads will be enhanced to make entry and exit points more efficient. Once completed, these changes are expected to cut travel time in the area by 30%.

Traffic Upgrades at Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC)

JVC is set for a massive traffic upgrade with four new access points and redesigned interchanges. These improvements will double the capacity of entry and exit roads, easing bottlenecks that currently slow down traffic. With a better road network and more efficient traffic management, commuters can expect up to a 70% reduction in travel delays, making it much easier to get in and out of the area.

Traffic Upgrades at Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah

Traffic flow on Palm Jumeirah will improve significantly with the addition of new acceleration and deceleration lanes at six locations, allowing cars to merge more smoothly. Pedestrian movement will also get a boost with two new bridges, making crossings safer and reducing congestion at key points. These enhancements will not only help drivers move around the Palm more quickly but will also shorten travel time by up to 40% during peak hours.

Traffic Upgrades at Dubai Production City

A major bottleneck in Dubai Production City has been its limited access from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The new plan includes building additional bridges to create smoother entry and exit points, while also improving internal roads. These upgrades will reduce travel time by 50%.

Traffic Upgrades at International City (Phase 3)

The entrance to International City from Manama Street is set for expansion, with a new lane and wider internal roads being added. Key intersections will also be upgraded with better traffic signals to improve flow. These changes mean that what once took 15 minutes to navigate will now take just five, cutting travel time by two-thirds.

With traffic improvements rolling out across these five areas, drivers and commuters can expect less time spent in traffic, stress-free journeys, and safer pedestrian crossings.
