Starting November 24, Dubai residents will see two new Salik toll gates operational at the Business Bay and Al Safa South locations on Sheikh Zayed Road. These additions will bring the total number of Salik toll gates across Dubai to 10, part of a broader effort by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to improve traffic flow, especially during peak hours, along one of the busiest corridors in the city.
The “Business Bay Gate” and “Al Safa South Gate” have been strategically placed to reduce bottlenecks and improve accessibility for drivers moving in and out of the central business districts.
According to RTA officials, these toll points will support an efficient commute by managing vehicle distribution along Sheikh Zayed Road, a vital artery connecting various key areas across Dubai.
Key Details and Impact on Daily Commuters
- The new gates are located near the Business Bay area and south of the Al Safa neighborhood. These points were selected to ease traffic flow for commuters heading to popular areas like Downtown Dubai, Jumeirah, and surrounding neighborhoods.
- Salik tolls are designed to help distribute traffic more evenly, encouraging alternative routes and easing pressure on the main highway.
- As with other Salik tolls, drivers passing through these gates will incur a fee of AED 4 per crossing. Salik tags, mandatory for all vehicles using the toll roads, automatically deduct this amount.
The addition of these toll gates aligns with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, which focuses on enhancing mobility, reducing travel time, and minimizing environmental impact by encouraging public transportation.
