Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is rolling out a series of traffic improvements, starting with the opening of new access points to Al Warqa neighbourhood from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. Scheduled for early June, the project is expected to significantly ease congestion and reduce travel times for thousands of commuters.

The new access point at Al Warqa 1 will increase road capacity by up to 5,000 vehicles per hour. Travel times on the route will drop dramatically from 20 minutes to just 3.5 minutes, while the journey distance will be reduced from 5.7km to 1.5km. The changes are set to improve everyday travel for residents and reduce delays across one of Dubai’s busiest roads.

Recent Improvements on Street 13

In a related project, the RTA recently completed enhancement works on Street 13, designed to improve mobility for residents and schoolgoers. The upgrades cover approximately 8km of internal road development, boosting overall network efficiency in the area.

Upcoming Upgrades in Al Warqa 3 and 4

Looking ahead, internal road networks in Al Warqa 3 and 4 are also scheduled for upgrades. These include new road paving, pedestrian walkways, pavements, and parking areas. Notably, the project will introduce more than 23km of dedicated cycling tracks.

School Zone Enhancements

Further improvements have been made near key educational institutions, including the School of Research Science and GEMS Royal Dubai School. These efforts have helped cut congestion and delays in the school zone by 35-50%.

Signalised Junctions at Al Warqa 1

As part of ongoing works, Al Warqa 1 will see its existing roundabouts replaced with signalised junctions equipped with smart traffic lights. This change is anticipated to enhance traffic flow by up to 30 percent.

Infrastructure Additions in Al Warqa 4

In Al Warqa 4, the RTA added pedestrian walkways, pavements, vehicle access points, and a full lighting system as part of enhancements to the Mohammed Bin Rashid housing establishment.

These updates form part of the wider plan to improve infrastructure in growing residential areas across Dubai.
