If you’re already counting down to book fair season, there’s something special waiting this year. Oman has officially been named Guest of Honour at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) 2026. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, said the decision honours Oman’s literary contribution and reflects the strong cultural ties between the two countries.
Arabic literature carries centuries of poetry, thought, and storytelling that continue to shape culture today. If you’d like to explore its richness, here’s good news: in January 2026, Amazon launched a Digital Arabic Library with 38,000 titles now available online.
As Guest of Honour, Oman will have its own dedicated pavilion during SIBF 2026 along with a full programme of literary and cultural events.

A number of prominent Omani writers, publishers, and thinkers are expected to take part, bringing their stories, ideas, and perspectives to the heart of the fair. As always, more details about guest speakers and featured authors will be revealed closer to the date, so keep an eye out if you’re planning to attend.
Sharjah International Book Fair 2026 will take place from November 4 to 15 at Expo Centre Sharjah.
And while this year’s edition returns to its usual venue, there’s a change on the horizon for SIBF. Starting in 2027, the fair will move to a brand-new permanent venue along the Emirates-Al Dhaid-Khorfakkan road network. It marks a new chapter for one of the region’s biggest literary events.
