Pierre Hermé, an iconic pastry chef, known as the “Picasso of Pastry” by Vogue USA, brings his legendary confections to Abu Dhabi for the very first time. His latest venture Majlis by Pierre Hermé will soon open its doors for visitors and sweetoohths at the prestigious Rosewood Abu Dhabi on Al Maryah Island, where guests can enjoy his signature macarons and desserts in a luxurious setting.

His creativity knows no bounds, with new flavors introduced seasonally, such as autumn-inspired macarons featuring ingredients like tomato leaves or rose, caramel, and amber. Yet, for Hermé, creativity is paired with precision, ensuring that each creation offers a flawless sensory experience.

In discussing the secret behind the allure of his iconic macarons, Hermé describes his pursuit of perfection. “Each macaron,” he shares, “is an exercise in balance — taste, texture, and aroma working in harmony.” He elaborates that his approach is meticulous, with each recipe finely tuned to perfection.

Reflecting on his latest project in the UAE capital, Hermé expresses excitement about bringing something new to the region’s culinary landscape. “It’s not just about offering pastries,” he explains. “We’re creating a unique experience — through the food, the service, and the environment. Our goal is to enhance the gastronomic offerings in Abu Dhabi and provide guests with something truly exceptional.”

At Majlis, patrons can look forward to sampling an array of Hermé’s signature creations, from delicate pastries to savory selections such as ceviche and lobster rolls. This diverse menu aims to showcase both the sweet and savory aspects of Hermé’s culinary expertise.

However, even for a chef of his stature, expanding into new regions like the UAE comes with challenges. Sourcing high-quality ingredients is one of the biggest hurdles, Hermé admits. Many essential ingredients, such as the macarons and chocolates, are imported from France to maintain consistency with his Parisian locations. Yet, Hermé is optimistic, noting that the UAE’s thriving food scene often makes it easier to find what’s needed compared to other regions.

With Majlis by Pierre Hermé set to open its doors, Abu Dhabi is about to experience a whole new level of sweet sophistication.
