Saudi Arabia is now laying the groundwork for Riyadh Expo 2030, set to run from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031. The Expo site, located in the north of the capital between KAPSARC and King Khalid International Airport, will span over six million square metres and is expected to welcome 40 million visitors in person and more than 1 billion virtually.

Following its winning bid in November 2023 — where Riyadh secured 119 out of 173 votes, defeating Rome and Busan — the country is investing SAR 29.3 billion into the project.

The goal is to present a forward-looking, immersive event themed “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow.”

The Expo 2030 Riyadh masterplan is inspired by traditional Saudi oases and rawdah gardens, with a layout that reflects both heritage and contemporary design. Of the total area, about 2 million square metres will be dedicated specifically to the Expo, while 2.6 million square metres are allocated for supporting infrastructure and essential services.

The site will be fully connected to Riyadh’s metro and bus networks, offering seamless access for visitors from across the city and beyond.

The Expo will feature five zones, each aligned with Saudi Arabia’s vision for the future:

  • Kingdom of Saudi Arabia District: A showcase of national development and the progress made under Vision 2030
  • Global Collaboration District: A global meeting point under the “Prosperous People” pillar
  • Transformational Technology District: A hub for digital transformation, future technologies, and scientific breakthroughs
  • Sustainable Solutions District: Focused on climate action, green tech, and environmental responsibility
  • Prosperous People District: Emphasising diversity, accessibility, and improved quality of life

Riyadh Expo 2030 will bring together 195+ participating countries and feature 230+ national and thematic pavilions.

And the impact won’t end in 2031. After the event wraps, the site will be converted into a permanent Global Village, set to host international exhibitions, entertainment, and cultural activities — ensuring the legacy continues long after the Expo ends.
